My Father's Business

Beloved Community Church’s highest financial priority is using our resources to empower the leaders of our community in the North Side. This ministry is called My Father’s Business, after Jesus’ statement as a boy in the temple: “Did you not know that I had to be about My Father’s business?” (Scripture needed). Our vision is not only to give people fish, but to teach them to fish and to make sure they have fishing equipment and access to the lake. Men who are from the North Side work part-time in various aspects of the ministry of Beloved, participate in weekly trainings, and lead our church in connecting with our surrounding community. Our focus is on men who are from the North Side as a response to the legacy of slavery, terror lynchings, segregation, police brutality and mass incarceration. Our goal is to participate in the rebuilding of African-American families through the empowerment of men by creating pathways to employment.
